Well personally, I do not agree with the view that there are two variables of Diplomacy. I believe that Diplomacy is a process that evolves along with time and trends; it is adapted to complement our daily lives and so on.
There are distinctive policies used before in Diplomacy that are still being used today, and this fact alone shows that there is no such things as ‘old’ and ‘new’ Diplomacy; one could even be audacious by calling it the change of political mentality in diplomatic means but never separating ideas and re-classifying it as ‘old’ and ‘new’ Diplomacy.
Therefore one cannot say that it has become outmoded, as it still plays an important role in international politics. Take for example the Middle East crises with the undergoing conflicts in the Palestine area, a country where soft power or simple Diplomacy conversations between both the Israeli government and the Hamas group to try and stop with the land fights are not resulting, ‘old’ Diplomacy as it is called would be one of the alternatives to try and help as it would aid by using the bilateral or traditional way of solving issues such as the secrecy of meetings.
Finally, this topic will continue to be a focus of controversy on the subject of Diplomacy and seen by many as unnecessary. We as individuals should see Diplomacy as a simple form of making politics suitable for all, one do not need to be formally a diplomat in order to promote good relations between countries or people, for example, in lectures and seminars when relevant we express views related to our nations and it is also a form of mediation not ‘old’ and not ‘new’ just a human and rational way of showing different cultures and ways of life and trying to interlace them peacefully.
